Canceled: 2020 MLBA Spring Conference and Lobby Day
The MLBA Board recently made the hard decision to cancel our 2020 Spring Conference and Lobby Day.
Now is an important time for our legislative efforts, however, we know you all will have a lot to do upon reopening to rebound from all of this. Because of this, we know our office will need to hit the legislature harder than ever regarding more relief for you as an independent business owner.
We are currently considering rescheduling Lobby Day to a one-day event this late summer or early fall, where our members would come to Lansing to meet with their legislators per usual. We would conduct the event out of the MLBA office, discuss our legislative issues and then set out to meet with our scheduled legislators. A lot of our issues would have to do with the hospitality industry surviving after reopening. These are major legislative issues we would be discussing and we would need your attendance more than ever.
Legislator gifts would be provided per usual, but we would not have the lunch on the Capitol lawn. That takes a lot of planning prior to the event and would not be possible with the limited number of dates available. We are being sensitive to what is happening and want to make the best decisions for everyone involved.
Your business is and has been on the line, that is why we think it is so very important to not cancel our event altogether. Our state legislators still need to hear from you. The MLBA will keep you posted with more information about the event as decisions are made.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the MLBA Member Relations Coordinator Brittany Mackey at 517-374-9612 ext. 110 or email@example.com. This is a time we need to band together to help get our businesses back to where they were. Let’s come together and do just that. Until then, hang in there. We are all going through our own trials and tribulations during this unprecedented time.
