GOV. WHITMER SIGNS EO 2020-59 ORDER

Mason Doerr  | Published on 4/24/2020

Today, Governor Whitmer lengthened her stay-at-home order through May 15, with Executive Order 2020-59.

The order does not mention the re-opening of bars and restaurants for dine-in service.

The new order will require people to wear face masks (at least cloth) when they enter enclosed public spaces (not during walks or other outdoor activities). It will also permit individuals to travel between their residences, although traveling during the epidemic is still strongly discouraged.

It will also lift some restrictions on outdoor activities and allow some workers who perform previously suspended activities to go back to work.

Landscapers and nursery employees can return to work, subject to strict social distancing. Retailers that do not sell necessary supplies may re-open for curbside pick-up and delivery. Big box stores can also re-open certain areas, like garden centers.

The order will also allow motorized boating and golf, but no golf carts.

The new executive order takes effect immediately.
